Our school is a K-8 school and our students make a huge transition from small Christian school to bigger public high schools after grade eight. Our grade seven and eight students participate in shop and home economics classes at a public school and our grade seven and eight band option is taught at a local public high school. Many of our students already have siblings that have made this transition to high school.
Grades seven and eight have a weekly devotional led by a local youth pastor. We found the Bible curriculum that we were using did not have enough "practical and every day lessons" but focussed more on Biblical knowledge. Students have studied texts such as "A Case for Christ", "A Case for Faith", and "The Purpose Driven Life". One of the intents of the devotional time is for students to think about their next years in high school and how they can be salt and light.
We as a school do survey parents of our former students currently in grade nine and ten. Most of the surveys come back very positive.
